Front-mounted torsion springs

The familiar exposed-coil system above the door opening. Correctly sized torsion springs counterbalance the door through the shaft and cable drums.

THE SPRINGS WE CHOOSE FOR YOUR REPLACEMENT

American-made.
Selected for the work ahead.

Our replacement springs use American-made, high-grade steel, with options rated from 10,000 cycles up to 20,000 cycles. We select the right spring for the door’s weight, hardware and use.

10,000–20,000Rated cycle-life options
5 yearsParts-and-labor spring warranty

One cycle is one complete opening and closing. The available rating depends on the spring and door configuration; actual service life varies with use, conditions and maintenance. Manufacturer photos identify the different systems; replacement specifications are confirmed for your door.

A REPLACEMENT THAT FITS THE WHOLE DOOR

More than swapping a spring.

Correct sizing & compatibility

We assess the spring system, door weight and related hardware, then explain suitable replacement options. Any conversion depends on the door and an on-site inspection.

Balance & system condition

Cables, drums, bearings and the opener all work with the springs. We inspect their condition and check operation after the repair.

What warranty comes with spring replacement?

Our garage door spring replacements include a 5-year parts-and-labor warranty. We explain the coverage for the proposed work before the repair. Warranty terms & schedule service.

Does every spring need the same replacement?

No. Door weight, spring type, system hardware and use all affect the choice. Components from standard torsion, TorqueMaster and EZ-SET systems should not be treated as interchangeable.

Do extension springs need containment cables?

DASMA recommends a containment cable through each extension spring. If one appears missing, arrange a professional inspection rather than attempting to install it yourself.

Can you help if I don’t know which system I have?

Yes. Start with a safe overview photo and the door label if available. We confirm the system and explain the options during inspection.

How to tell if your garage door spring is broken
WHEN SOMETHING ISN’T RIGHT

A spring problem can resemble an opener, cable or track problem. These signs call for an inspection.

Stop using a door with suspected spring damage.

Keep people clear. Do not force it with the opener, pull the release on an open door, or try to lift it to test the spring.

  • A gap in an exposed torsion coilA visible separation can indicate a break. This check does not apply to springs concealed inside a TorqueMaster tube.
  • A loud snap or bangEspecially if the door stopped operating normally afterward.
  • A door that struggles or stopsAn opener may lift only a short distance. Avoid repeated attempts.
  • A crooked door or loose cableSeveral faults can cause this. Keep clear of the door and cables until inspected.
How to identify and measure a garage door spring
BEFORE YOUR SERVICE VISIT

The best starting point is a few clear photos. You do not need to touch, remove or unwind the spring to request service.

Do not climb, reach into hardware or stand beneath a damaged or partly open door for a photo.

  1. Photograph the overall systemFrom a safe floor-level position, show the top of the door and the side tracks.
  2. Share the door labelInclude the brand, model and any spring-system label that is safely visible.
  3. Share the door size, if knownA label or existing paperwork may list width and height. Door dimensions alone do not determine the correct spring.
What spring measurements will our technician verify?

For standard torsion systems, selection can involve wire diameter, inside diameter, relaxed coil length, winding direction and the door’s weight and hardware. Extension systems also require the correct load rating and compatible configuration. TorqueMaster and EZ-SET require system-specific identification. We confirm these details during inspection; spring color or a door’s size alone is not enough.

Do not remove or release tension from a spring to obtain measurements. We handle the hands-on measurements and compatibility checks.

Do you replace garage door springs in Lancaster, Ohio?

Yes. City Garage Door Service provides mobile garage door spring replacement in Lancaster and throughout our Central Ohio service area. We inspect the spring system and related hardware, explain suitable replacement options, then check door balance and operation after the work.

Are your replacement garage door springs American-made?

Our replacement springs use American-made, high-grade steel, with 10,000–20,000-cycle options selected for the door and compatible spring system. We confirm the specific replacement and cycle rating before work begins.

How long do 10,000-cycle and 20,000-cycle garage door springs last?

One cycle is one complete opening and closing. A 20,000-cycle spring is rated for twice as many cycles as a 10,000-cycle spring. These are cycle ratings, not guaranteed lifespans in years; actual service life varies with use, sizing, conditions and maintenance.

What warranty comes with your spring replacement?

Our garage door spring replacements include a 5-year parts-and-labor warranty. We explain coverage for the proposed work before the repair. Warranty terms & schedule service.

Do you service TorqueMaster and IDEAL Door EZ-SET spring systems?

We identify Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster and IDEAL Door EZ-SET systems during inspection and explain compatible replacement or conversion options for the door. Their components should not be treated as interchangeable with standard torsion spring parts.
